Families migrate worldwide for multiple reasons like onboarding a new job, upgrading lifestyle, etc. Changing locations creates havoc for children who are expected to adjust to different types of schools and in a short period. After spending years in a particular school, enrolling the child in another school may have a negative impact on their overall development.
International schools have been established worldwide to provide uniformity in education, culture, language, and teaching patterns. The three primary international schools are British School, American School, and IB (International Baccalaureate).
Due to the expansion of the British empire worldwide, British schools were set up everywhere to offer the NCE (National Curriculum of England), one of the world's most trusted curriculums. These schools primarily work towards the IGCSE exams that organizations like Cambridge International or Pearson overlook.
Similar to the establishment of British Schools, American Schools were set up due to the USA's expansion and worldwide reach. The curriculum at these schools is flexible, unlike the British curriculum. Each State or District in the US sets its educational standards depending on its core values.
With over 5000 schools worldwide, International Baccalaureate or IB Schools are the most popular among Indian international schools in Japan. This type of international school took roots in Geneva in 1960. Indian International School Japan offers an IB curriculum, which is divided into four programs:
Primary Years Programme (age 3 to 12)
Middle Years Programme (age 11 to 16)
Diploma Programme (age 16 to 19)
Career-related Programme (age 16 to 19)
The International Baccalaureate Organisation oversees IB Schools.
